Body Bashing.

Love your body, any size that it is. Easy for me to say right? I'm skinny and therefor I have no problems. You couldn't be anymore off. I have insecurities and I have my entire life. I have gotten bullied for being skinny on countless occasions. So many times I have tried to gain weight, at LEAST ten pounds. I tried and tried and to no  result have I gained. To give you perspective here, I am 5'3, I weight about 103 pounds (46.72 kilograms) right now.  According to this chart and my doctor I am underweight.
Although it makes me feel helpless at times I have been learning to accept that. I am built the way I am because that is how my genetics worked out. I have a long line of women in my family who are all tiny ladies.
Yet even with my road to self acceptance, I am often haunted by the comments I receive. It is a daily occurrence for me to receive insults, not as easily spotted as "You're so ugly" more along the lines of "OMG, you're so skinny", "Do you ever eat?", "I used to be small like you, until I started eating", or "Oh stop complaining, you have nothing to worry about".
It is the EXACT same thing, telling a thicker girl to lose weight as telling a thin girl to gain weight. Yet for some reason it is socially acceptable to tell me to "eat something".
Let's get something straight, I love food! I always have and yet if I were to even mention that in a conversation I would get dirty looks. Never mind shopping, every girl thinks that is she were skinnier that shopping would be so much better, that she could fit in things better. That is very wrong, I often leave department stores in tears. I can never find pants that fit, they always are too big around the waist. I have to tightly belt my work pants, even things like skirts and dresses are a struggle. Yet if I were to even mention this to someone I would get ripped at, telling me to shut up and to stop looking for attention.
It's just things like friends at school or family members say that are suppose to be a joke that upset me. I smile and go along with it but on the inside I am crying. It's not fair that my weight comes up in every conversation. It's not fair that my body type is labeled as "ugly and disgusting" or that I get dirty looks during gym class. I would say the worst of all is the total invasion of privacy. I have countless times had people I know or not grab my hips or wrists and say "WOW, your wrists are so small". It is nearly impossible for me to meet someone without the making a comment about my wrists.
Just please, all I'm asking is for you to think about what you say. I am not gross, I am not anorexic, I am a real woman. I am only asking for the same amount of respect that I give you.  I think that body's of every shape and size should be respected.

Spring In My Step.

Today felt like summer. I wore a jean jacket to school and when walking home I was sweating. It's barely half way though March. This weather has been very unlike Canada. I can't say I mind, it has been wonderful not having to wear tights.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Enjoy the fantastic weather!

Valentines day.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. Today is valentines day, I don't have anyone but i'm fine and dandy with that. I think valentines day shouldn't only about dates and silly teddy bears it should be about showing everyone around you how much you love them. Every year my mom gets my siblings and I some small valentines day treats, which is nice and I always look forward to it.
I'm also happy because the weather has been fairly mild and it means I can take pictures without freezing!

They way I belted my dress made it bunch up and look uneven :(

Sweet little Musings #1

Hello all!
I thought I would start a little series where I post links/photos of things I've enjoyed or done in the past little while!

Its the sweet love stories of couples who have been married for over 50 years captured by a new york photographer ! Its the sweetest thing and made me cry a few tears.

Me at my local high school prom fashion show!
The high schools in my town did a fashion show where we all modeled off prom dresses and the money goes back into a our grad clubs! I got to model this dress, which was nerve racking/ fun. I'm not the model type but I figured why not! This dress is not my style at all since i'm going to order a vintage dress from etsy for prom. It was hard to walk in but a good experience since I'm shy and not the type to do these things normally. It was a great chance to get out there and be more confident!

A picture I took of a little cap I got from a flea market a long time ago.

That is all! I hope you enjoyed this!

Avoiding the topic.

Today in my history class we did a "trial of Napoleon". I was Goya, the Spanish painter. It was nerve wracking but I manged to do it so I hope I got a good mark.

Blouse, Belt: Thrited, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Ardene.
This outfit was from yesterday, I really did like this outfit I wear it quite often.

Blouse: Labels, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Belt: H&M, Shoes (not seen): Payless

Lastly, this is an oufit I haven't wore out yet but I'm on the fence about. I bought this dress at a thrift store, its a little too big but if I belt it seems to be fine. My only problems with it are that if I don't wear something under neath its way to itchy. I think its home made since there isn't any labels on it and some stiching seems amateur.  However it is super cute.
Button up: Wallmart, Dress, belt.: Thrited
Any style tips for the dress?

I taste your love.

Hello! I have an ISP right now, for those who don't what that is its when instead of a substitute in grade twelve they just give you your work and then you can go. It only happens sometimes, just depending on your teachers. I had two ISP's today, so my day was kind of pointless. I had photography, ISP,spare, lunch, ISP and msip. No 'real' classes so i'm just relaxing at home. However i'm going back before school ends so i can take the bus up town and hand out resumes. I really need a job, I need to save up for school and a trip to D.C that the grade elevens/grade twelves are going on.

I took outside photos today in my backyard. I love it, it was little cold but the snow melted this morning so it wasn't that chilly.  Its one of the things I love about the new house, the cute little patio and path. Its not a big yard but its nice and private so i'm not that embarrassed to take photos hehe.

The smirk I made in this picture reminds me of the ever so lovely Coco Maria, she is one of my favorite bloggers.

Skirt, Belt, Cardigan, Shoes: Thrited.  Shirt : Winners...I think hehe. Tights(both pairs): Wallmart

The funny thing is I'm wearing double tights today, so I'm super cozy. Both pairs are sweater tights so super warm too! Oh and I don't know about you but I always have problems with getting my tights to stay up. I always have to get the smallest size so it will fit me around the waist but then the legs don't fit as well and slide down. So here a tip to get them to stay up. Its super silly but works, wear a pair of undies over top of your tights. It makes you feel like a superhero
and keeps your tights up. Win/win.

Have a nice day!

The following pictures are me in a nutshell. I'm wearing my strawberry dress! Its my favorite clothing item I own. Its quirky, just like me!

This is my just got up and need tea face.

Whimsical

Hello! So here's my outfit I wore today. I don't really have much to say except that I forgot how much I loved this necklace. Its so dreamy and whimsical. It has a little bird on a heart pendant, a bow and a key.

I'm having a tea party! Care to join?

Here's a little challenge for anyone reading, I invite you to join me in a little goal I have for myself. Make sure to make a least 5-10 minutes a day for yourself to relax. I know at least for myself I forget to just calm down and do something I enjoy. I like to read and drink tea or surf the internetz for cat pictures. Do it! Whats the worst that could happen?
I actually love this sweater, I wear it to bed almost everynight. I got it at a thrift store a couple years ago, its a huge home made wool sweater with a giant horse on it. Gotta love cheesy stuff like that!

Hope you all have a lovely night, please tell me what you think of the snazzy new header/layout! - Joan

Romance is boring.

Hello hello.
I'm feeling a bit better, I've just been under the weather but I think its clearing up.
I've finally gotten settled and used to the new house and I really do adore my new room. I promise to take pictures and do an 50 cent tour :) (just kidding, its free). I've also started my online course,  writers craft. Its nice to be able to take a course that they don't offer at my school but stay at BCI.
That's all I can really update you on. I know that I haven't really done any "offical" outfit posts but I'm trying to stay clear of being a fashion blog. This is just an online 'journal' shall I say. I mean I have a diary sure but this is kind of my way of showing who I am to others who care to listen! I can't thank all the people who have left nice comments enough.

 - Goodnight!

I’m having a minor emotional breakdown.

I was upset and just crying in the kitchen about my future and how I feel like its slipping out of my hands. Then my youngest brother Alex who has a slight case of autism gave me a hug and a kiss for letting me borrow his pencil. I cut up his dinner for him and watched him do his homework for a bit. Sometimes the small things help drown out the big things.
Ps: outfit posts and whatnot should be back soon. Once I clear my head.

Harry Potter Day

My school is having a Halloween themed spirit week. Today was 'dress like a Harry Potter character' day. I was so excited because i'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Its just my life, and of course I have my Hermione costume that I always wore to premiers that I haven't been able to wear since the last movie came out. So i got excited and had one of the best school days ever!

Home is where you are.

Hello! If you read my adventures from yesterday you would have got my frustration about having to pick up my birthday presents. As soon as I got it I went home and changed. Yeah, i'm that girl who changes her outfit halfway though the day. I ordered from urban outfitters, I got three dresses, a pair of shoes, a journal, a banner and a skirt.
Have a nice night!
