Avoiding the topic.

Today in my history class we did a "trial of Napoleon". I was Goya, the Spanish painter. It was nerve wracking but I manged to do it so I hope I got a good mark.

Blouse, Belt: Thrited, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Ardene.
This outfit was from yesterday, I really did like this outfit I wear it quite often.

Blouse: Labels, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Belt: H&M, Shoes (not seen): Payless

Lastly, this is an oufit I haven't wore out yet but I'm on the fence about. I bought this dress at a thrift store, its a little too big but if I belt it seems to be fine. My only problems with it are that if I don't wear something under neath its way to itchy. I think its home made since there isn't any labels on it and some stiching seems amateur.  However it is super cute.
Button up: Wallmart, Dress, belt.: Thrited
Any style tips for the dress?

I taste your love.

Hello! I have an ISP right now, for those who don't what that is its when instead of a substitute in grade twelve they just give you your work and then you can go. It only happens sometimes, just depending on your teachers. I had two ISP's today, so my day was kind of pointless. I had photography, ISP,spare, lunch, ISP and msip. No 'real' classes so i'm just relaxing at home. However i'm going back before school ends so i can take the bus up town and hand out resumes. I really need a job, I need to save up for school and a trip to D.C that the grade elevens/grade twelves are going on.

I took outside photos today in my backyard. I love it, it was little cold but the snow melted this morning so it wasn't that chilly.  Its one of the things I love about the new house, the cute little patio and path. Its not a big yard but its nice and private so i'm not that embarrassed to take photos hehe.

The smirk I made in this picture reminds me of the ever so lovely Coco Maria, she is one of my favorite bloggers.

Skirt, Belt, Cardigan, Shoes: Thrited.  Shirt : Winners...I think hehe. Tights(both pairs): Wallmart

The funny thing is I'm wearing double tights today, so I'm super cozy. Both pairs are sweater tights so super warm too! Oh and I don't know about you but I always have problems with getting my tights to stay up. I always have to get the smallest size so it will fit me around the waist but then the legs don't fit as well and slide down. So here a tip to get them to stay up. Its super silly but works, wear a pair of undies over top of your tights. It makes you feel like a superhero
and keeps your tights up. Win/win.

Have a nice day!

This is my just got up and need tea face.

Whimsical

Hello! So here's my outfit I wore today. I don't really have much to say except that I forgot how much I loved this necklace. Its so dreamy and whimsical. It has a little bird on a heart pendant, a bow and a key.

I'm having a tea party! Care to join?

Here's a little challenge for anyone reading, I invite you to join me in a little goal I have for myself. Make sure to make a least 5-10 minutes a day for yourself to relax. I know at least for myself I forget to just calm down and do something I enjoy. I like to read and drink tea or surf the internetz for cat pictures. Do it! Whats the worst that could happen?
I actually love this sweater, I wear it to bed almost everynight. I got it at a thrift store a couple years ago, its a huge home made wool sweater with a giant horse on it. Gotta love cheesy stuff like that!

Hope you all have a lovely night, please tell me what you think of the snazzy new header/layout! - Joan

Romance is boring.

Hello hello.
I'm feeling a bit better, I've just been under the weather but I think its clearing up.
I've finally gotten settled and used to the new house and I really do adore my new room. I promise to take pictures and do an 50 cent tour :) (just kidding, its free). I've also started my online course,  writers craft. Its nice to be able to take a course that they don't offer at my school but stay at BCI.
That's all I can really update you on. I know that I haven't really done any "offical" outfit posts but I'm trying to stay clear of being a fashion blog. This is just an online 'journal' shall I say. I mean I have a diary sure but this is kind of my way of showing who I am to others who care to listen! I can't thank all the people who have left nice comments enough.

 - Goodnight!

I’m having a minor emotional breakdown.

I was upset and just crying in the kitchen about my future and how I feel like its slipping out of my hands. Then my youngest brother Alex who has a slight case of autism gave me a hug and a kiss for letting me borrow his pencil. I cut up his dinner for him and watched him do his homework for a bit. Sometimes the small things help drown out the big things.
Ps: outfit posts and whatnot should be back soon. Once I clear my head.

Harry Potter Day

My school is having a Halloween themed spirit week. Today was 'dress like a Harry Potter character' day. I was so excited because i'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Its just my life, and of course I have my Hermione costume that I always wore to premiers that I haven't been able to wear since the last movie came out. So i got excited and had one of the best school days ever!

Weekend snapshots

I had a fantastic birthday weekend. Here's a couple pictures of outfits, gifts and everything else.

Home is where you are.

Hello! If you read my adventures from yesterday you would have got my frustration about having to pick up my birthday presents. As soon as I got it I went home and changed. Yeah, i'm that girl who changes her outfit halfway though the day. I ordered from urban outfitters, I got three dresses, a pair of shoes, a journal, a banner and a skirt.
Have a nice night!

My day in crude illustrations .

Today was weird.
Not like normal, "oh shit I found a penny but it stuck to the ground omg so weird i should post a status about this" kind of weird. More like a grandpa window face planting, staying home, nine o clock birthday having, spongebob watching, mail never arriving weird.

Alright, so i'll start at the beginning. Some shenanigans including me offending some of my easily offended friends started yesterday. Stuff kind of snow balled down the hill and now I might as well legally change my name to Hitler because i'm liked just about as much. Then I wake up this morning scared shitless by my alarm clock which plays "No sleep till Brooklyn," from the Beastie Boys, (Punny right?). This sounds awesome as hell until it wakes you up and you're convinced that someone is yelling at you.
So I then proceed to run to the bathroom and puke my guts out, fun stuff. No idea why, but my dad let me stay home. I still get that feeling that you did when you were little when your parents told you that you could stay home from school. "HOLY SHIT THIS IS GOING TO BE FUCKLOADS OF FUN."
Yeah, seventeen in two days and still convinced that staying home is the best thing since god damn sliced bread. Anyways so I got to stay home to I went the hell back to bed. I guess I slept though the mail man knocking on the door because I didn't get my birthday presents that I ordered online. I've been waiting for three weeks so looking in the mail box and seeing that taunting "we missed you" shit that Purolator puts in there when you don't answer the door.  Condescending assholes. Seriously, I could of been dead in my bedroom and they just leave a goddamn note telling me to go pick it up and pay more money even though I already paid shipping! Seriously, its like that scene in The Catcher In The Rye, when Holden says that his gravestone will probably have "fuck you" written on it. Mine may as well.

So after waking up at eleven, I find out this devastating news and call my dad. He then gets my grandpa to pick me up and bring me to the Purolator place in my town. My grandpa is kind of on the looney side and when I say that I mean he's an absolute nut bar. I love him but holy nuts is he ever crazy. After getting there they proceed to tell me that they don't have it and my towns post office does instead. Which means I can't pick it up until tomorrow, well shit.

Alright so i'm already frustrated but then my grandpa walks right into the goddamn glass window right beside the door. For whatever reason, he just did. I really had to exercise my self control because I wanted to laugh so hard he did seem pretty mad so I didn't. It hurts my stomach every time I think about it because it was hilarious. I'm a terrible person, so what?

Once he dropped me off I was such a wreck, I laughed for ten goddamn minutes. I really had to get it out of my system because I spent the entire ride home looking like I was going to die. I was licking my lips to try to muffle the laughter. So once my manic laughing attack was over, I did what any mature woman home alone would do. I watched Spongebob Squarepants in my kitty pajamas.

Moral of the story, I need to grow up, pick up my mail tomorrow and get some more mature pjs.

Moving up and moving on.

Hello, my dad and I took a look at the new house today. Its a few blocks away from where we are living now so still near the school but its absolutely beautiful. I'm so excited to move in! I really want the room with the three closets, still have to convince my dad hehe.
Today is a better day, as you may be able to tell from the last post I was feeling weak. However I'm trying to keep positive and take it one day at a time. Seems like sometimes that's all you can do. Just keep on trucking along, no matter how much it seems like you should give up.
I had a different outfit on earlier, but i'm going to the movies later and felt like changing. I found this Banana Republic dress at a local thrift store. It was a lot longer when I got it but I hemmed it and its now a perfect fall dress!
Banana Republic dress, belt: Thrifted
Cardigan: Old, from grade nine.
Hope you all have a lovely day.

My weekend in lists

If you're a Los Campesinos! fan then you may get the reference in the title. Hats off to you if you do!
Since i'm in a bit of a moggy mood i think i'll sum up my long thanksgiving weekend briefly in list and photos:

Load's of treats!
Good things
  • Brockville bowl with friends
  • Lots of turkey and yummy foods
  • Time with family
  • New shoes and tights
  • Tried a grape cigar, it was quite nice.
  • Playing retro board games with family

Pumpkin pie is the best thing to happen to this planet ever!

Bad things
  • Brockville bowl party was a disaster
  • I cried for three solid hours when I got home
  • I'm not speaking to one of my best friends because of how upset i am and it really is killing me
Lesson's learned
  • Your friends aren't always right
  • Standing up for yourself feels good
  • Crying does help
  • Harry Potter quotes and yummy candles are just as effective as therapy.
  • I really do love my family.

I don't mean to be a downer, I did enjoy the weekend. It was intresting to say the least and I got to do a lot of thinking.
However I think I need to think about homework,
    Yours truly
    Joan.

The future and everything like it.

Last night I had an epitome about several things. My choice of friends, my future, and most of all my education.
I've had it enforced in my brain that I need to go straight to university. Where now I really feel like I need to take some time to myself. Here i'm going to throw a cliche out there and say I need to find myself. I'd say there is no better way to do that then to go backpacking. Yet again i'm going to go for the cliche and say in Europe. Whatever, i'm sure its helped people before and that is why its so popular.
As for my friends, well if you want me to be there I will. However i'm not bending over backwards just to make you happy. I'm done with that. You can't expect other people to make you happy, you have to.

This dress is a result of OCD.

      Hello there!
This dress I am wearing right here I bought at a local thrift store. It's a silk vintage dress made in Italy. I love it but it was originally past my knees. I love the midi trend but it was far too long. I'm 5'4 so anything longer then two inches past my knees makes me look stumpy.
So at twelve last night I looked up some tutorials and decided to take the dive and hem it finally. I had only wore it once for a photo shoot at the original length.  So i did some research then got my sewing kit out and hand sewed to my desired length. I love it now! I've always loved red and wanted a go-to red dress. It reminds me of a slightly more vintage version of the dress Zooey Deschanel wore in the new girl.
      You see it?
Yeah. So today I went to school on two hours sleep rocking my improved dress, a tiny leather satchel (not shown) black tights, a black belt, and some tan shoes.  So I'm thinking I will keep doing outfit posts every once in a while. I just wanted to show my hard work!
